Different results are yielded in different search engines like those mentioned above. Many people or netizens use Google since it is the most effective in showing what one is looking for. It also shows better filtered and organized results compared to others according to the website gcflearnfree.org.
Searching the net is really easy as 1,2,3. But, being easy doesn't mean that you have to disregard finding better ways to make your searching "easier". In searching, the order the words in your query matters. Because the search engine looks for the thing that you are searching for through the order of your words, it is helpful in having an effective and easier search.
In Google, one can use use Advance Search Strategies in searching multiple terms like putting "OR" in to include synonyms of a certain word in your results. For example, in searching for the "top school in the Philippines", one can type "top school OR university OR college in the Philippines" to show results that are just related or synonymous to the original term you are searching for.
"Welche Zeit wird die Sonne aufgehen in Nizza, heute Frankreich?"--Imagine having a German friend who asked you this. What will you answer? Fortunately, Google search is just there--ready to help anyone, anytime. According to Google, this phrase means "What time will the sun rise today in nice France?" Since you already know what he means, you can answer him by searching Google again. To know the sunrise and sunset of a certain place, you can just type "sunrise (place)" in the search bar and tadah! You will know the exact time that the sun will rise in France today. Amazing isn't it?
There are really many features available in Google. One feature is the A Google A Day wherein different questions with answers are posted. The questions are not that common and ordinary. It can teach you many random facts about our world. One question from A Google A Day is: If you consecutively slept one night in each room (excluding bathrooms) of the Palace of the Light of Faith, how many years would it take you to sleep in them all? When I went to the website of A Google A Day and typed the question mentioned, the answer stated there was:
"A search for 'the palace of the light of faith' revealed that Istana Nurul Iman is the name of the palace in Brunei and that there are 1788 rooms including 257 bathrooms. That leaves 1531 rooms divided by 365 equals 4.19 years.
Not an incredibly difficult question, but it does get you looking around for new things."
A Google A Day, I think, is a fun way to learn about new and random facts about our world that one can even boast it amongst his/her friends.
There are still many great things to discover in Google. Thanks to CMSC2 that I learn all about these stuffs. But for "Searching Effectively in Google", it ends for now. Hope you learned something also! :)
